Have you guys heard about this? I'm sure you have since so many bloggers seem to be sharing their words.
Basically Ali Edwards, fellow blogger extraordinaire, is offering a workshop based on the idea that one little word can shape your attitude for the upcoming year. It works to influence you in every aspect of your life--how you interact with people, how you handle your trials, your hopes and dreams, everyday life. Anything! (I'm not participating in her workshop, and I believe it's full, but I decided to draw inspiration from the movement)
I was reading a lot of other bloggers' posts on their olw (a couple of my favorites included embrace, lovely, and awesomer), and I knew that this was my kind of resolution. One word seemed much easier than a long list that I would soon forget.
I was also searching for some kind of inspiration... a reason to look forward to the new year.
I had a miscarriage early in December, so as I considered what my olw would be, I knew that this word needed to give me comfort and strength as my family moved on from disappointment and attempted to answer the "whys," "hows" and "now whats."
As I sat in church last week and pondered how I could find the answers to these difficult questions, my heart whispered, "Trust in Him... Trust in Him."
My one little word for 2013 is... trust.
Trust is reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety of a person or thing, confidence; or the confident expectation of something, hope.
I already love how this word applies to so many different aspects of my life. I hope to use this word to become someone more reliable and accountable. I hope this word reminds me to put my faith in others more frequently. To be confident in myself. To have hope for the future.
I hope this word will serve as my constant reminder to put my faith in God.
Mostly, it was the need to heal that led me to this little word.
I'm looking forward to the opportunities to exercise trust in 2013!
My first act of trust... trusting my instincts that Baby Girl is ready for a big girl bed (I'm cautiously optimistic). We'll see how it goes.
What's your one little word for the year?
